1. What did Former Prime Minister Dr .Manmohan Singh exactly say about weaker sections and their rights on national resources:
"I believe our collective priorities are clear: agriculture, irrigation and water resources, health, education, critical investment in rural infrastructure, and the essential public investment needs of general infrastructure, along with programmes for the upliftment of SC/STs, other backward classes, minorities and women and children. The component plans for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will need to be revitalized. We will have to devise innovative plans to ensure that minorities, particularly the Muslim minority, are empowered to share equitably in the fruits of development. Note: SC/ST/OBC/women/children are mentioned along with minorities, esp Muslims. Even the contentious words ‘first claim on resources’ are prefaced by underlining ‘collective priorities’ and the need to ‘share equitably’. How is anything that the former PM said anything but a reiteration of a constitutional commitment to EQUALITY of citizenship and affirmative action ? I know it’s election time but why dog whistle and communalise a remark that was never meant to be divisive in first instance.
